Grid

In Grid we seek to generate Design Solutions of infinite complexity out of simple but mutable logic. In our reading the grid is not understood as an object but as something that will always be there, at the very core of the language of architecture which calls for a constant flux of forms and media; a seemingly indispensable device for the existence of space.

The grid is assumed to have a formal simplicity. It is considered as a bureaucratic matrix, a network of territorial control or even a literal mesh of cage. It can be considered as a predictable as well as indeterminate, prescriptive as well as ambiguous. Hence a grid is considered as “strong as well as weak”. But the analysis of the built form suggests that the link between the simplicity of the grid and complexity of the urban environment is beyond debate.

About – Grid Architecture Office

Grid Architecture and research office was founded by Mina Saadatfard and Ali Arzaghi in 2012 in Shiraz, Iran. Our ambition is to improve architecture disciplinary objectives in our geography being in a constant environmental and socio-economical turbulences. We provide professional design, research and construction services.  Our projects range in size from urban spaces, landscapes and to buildings. Beside professional architecture and urban projects, we have been participating in various research and educational projects as well as national and international architectural competitions. In Grid Architecture office we believe that architecture discipline as a player in a multi-layered and complex grid of city, environment, economy, culture and society could have a more extensive and immanent effect on our future co-living.
